Developing a branded wayfinding scheme requires a clear objective and a thorough understanding of the environment you’re working in. Like many towns, Ramsgate had disjointed signage that was accumulated over many years, was outdated, in poor condition and did not reflect the vision and aspirations of the town council.
Our work began by completing a thorough audit of existing signage and gaining a complete understanding of the town centre experience, where visitors arrived, where they needed to get to and how best to get them there.
Our creative team worked through progressive design concepts, embracing the essence of this coastal town and its maritime heritage. Our wayfinding signage solutions needed to reflect the unique character and history that is Ramsgate and communicate the ambitious, forward thinking attitude of the council.
Our approach
All signs were manufactured in our workshops and were made from robust stainless steel and aluminium to withstand the harsh coastal environment. Printed panels were finished in a DuoGuard™ anti-graffiti coating, offering protection against anti-social behaviour and giving 10 years fade proofing.
We have installed a contemporary suite of signs throughout the town, including Enigma™ monoliths and wayfinding fingerposts, finished in traditional maritime colours and displaying iconic images of Ramsgate.
