Our Net Zero progress update
At Fitzpatrick Woolmer, sustainability is more than a long-term ambition. It is something we are actively embedding into the way we work every day.
As part of our commitment to achieving Net Zero by 2030, we have completed our latest annual carbon footprint assessment. The results show a 13% reduction in our measured carbon footprint over the past 12 months, preventing almost 7 tonnes of CO₂e from being emitted compared with the previous year.
This progress has been achieved through practical changes across our business, rather than relying on carbon offsetting. From improving the energy efficiency of our premises to reducing unnecessary travel and making more sustainable energy choices, we are continuing to reduce our environmental impact while maintaining the high levels of service our clients expect.
Our latest independent carbon assessment also highlights further opportunities to reduce emissions in the years ahead, particularly through continued investment in energy efficiency and renewable technologies. As we work towards our 2030 Net Zero target, we will continue to measure our progress annually, identify new opportunities for reduction, and work collaboratively with our employees, customers and suppliers to minimise our environmental impact.
Every tonne of carbon saved is another step towards a more sustainable future.
Initiatives delivered over the last 12 months:
- Achieved a 13% reduction in our measured carbon footprint, saving almost 7 tonnes of CO₂e compared with the previous year.
- Switched our premises to 100% REGO-backed renewable electricity, reducing the carbon impact associated with the electricity we purchase.
- Installed PIR motion sensors across our lighting systems, ensuring lights are only used when required and improving energy efficiency.
- Continued our investment in LED lighting throughout our premises, helping to reduce electricity consumption.
- Reduced business travel by replacing many face-to-face meetings with online meetings where appropriate.
- Continued to support hybrid working, helping to reduce employee commuting miles and associated transport emissions.
- Continued to monitor and measure our carbon footprint across Scope 1, Scope 2 and selected Scope 3 emissions, allowing us to make informed decisions and focus on the areas where the greatest reductions can be achieved.
- Embedded sustainability further into our long-term business strategy, supported by annual carbon reporting and our clear commitment to achieving Net Zero by 2030.
Looking ahead
Reducing our carbon footprint is an ongoing process. We will continue to build on the progress made this year, using robust measurement and practical action to identify further opportunities for reduction.
