Our illustration design transforms a simple sign or panel into something vivid, emotional and instantly engaging – a core pillar of our Experience Signage ethos. It gives visitors a way to see what cannot always be physically experienced, whether that is lost heritage, hidden wildlife habitats, historic reconstructions or the unseen workings of architecture and machinery. Through carefully crafted visual storytelling, illustration helps people connect more deeply with place, history and environment.

Created by the talented illustrators in our Creative Studio, our artwork plays a central role in many of the interpretation schemes featured across our heritage and outdoor portfolio. From history and archaeology to wildlife, pondlife, woodland ecosystems and visitor attractions, our illustration work is designed to spark curiosity and make complex stories easier to understand.

Our team combines traditional craftsmanship with modern digital techniques, selecting the right visual style to suit the subject matter, audience and final application. Beautifully rendered watercolour studies of flora and fauna bring natural environments to life with warmth and authenticity, while highly detailed cutaway illustrations can reveal the internal workings of historic buildings, engineering systems or industrial processes in a way photography alone cannot achieve.
